A skin tag (acrochordon) is a common condition presenting as small, flesh-colored skin growths on a thin stalk most commonly found on the eyelids, neck, armpits, and groin area. Their incidence usually increases with age and might be a result of genetics and/or irritation or friction to the skin.

Skin tags are harmless and do not require removal, however; they can be removed by a physician for cosmetic purposes or comfort.

Skin tags might be removed by:

  • Scissor snipping
  • Electrocautery (burning)
  • Cryosurgery (freezing)
