Skin Conditions
This section is designed to answer frequently asked questions about some common dermatologic conditions.

Skin Care
One of the most frequent questions that Dr. Shive gets from her patients are recommendations for skin care products and sunscreens. In this section, you can learn more about skin care products that should be a part of anyone’s skin care regimen.

Skin Cancer
Dr. Shive is a double-board certified, ACGME fellowship trained Mohs surgeon and is an expert at treating skin cancers ranging from rare to very common. She has performed thousands of skin cancer surgeries and reconstructions and can help you navigate your treatment options. For more complicated tumors, she works closely with an interdisciplinary team of specialists at UCI to make sure her patients receive the best care and treatment for their skin cancers.

Wound Care
After every surgery, patients will receive detailed wound care instructions, but in case those instructions are lost or if you would like to preview the instructions beforehand, many of the instructions are available here to view.

Skin Growths
Skin growths like skin tags, milia, or seborrheic keratoses are a nuisance but unfortunately a very common occurrence. Learn more about some common skin growths and make an appointment with Dr. Shive if you’re interested in treatment or removal.

Aesthetic Procedures
Dr. Shive is fellowship-trained in advanced cosmetic procedures and performs a wide variety of procedures, including but not limited to Botox, fillers, chemical radiofrequency microneedling, skin tag and benign growth removal, Coolsculpting, Instalift, and chemical and laser resurfacing. The UCI Department of Dermatology is one of the national leaders in laser therapy and is home to a very large collection of lasers. Because of this availability of lasers, Dr. Shive is able to finely tune and customize a treatment plan that is tailored to the patient’s goals of treatment.
